Enviromental Commitee

CEPF has decided to form a enviromental Commitee to be headed by Liz La Posta. They will be responsible for deciding what course of action or events CEPF may attend or conduct, over the course of the upcoming years. As we gain more insight into what this commitee comes up with we shall inform eveyone else as well.

What I'd like to do first with the Environmental committee is to have a table at the Salisbury Zoo's Earth Day Celebration in April of 2006. I used to do this with the UUFS when I was DRE there. What I did back then was dress up like mother nature and read books to kids with environmental ideas. Books like "The Lorax" and things like that. I'd be up for doing that again, but we still need some kind of table display for CEPF. Also, I'd like to have other readers, because your voice gets worn out very quickly!

We also used to make a special edition newletter with some ideas for living green at home. I see that there are two parts to environmental issues, the legal/political side and the Living Green side. Sure I write to my representatives online, but I feel as Pagans it makes sence to also change our life style. For example, using rechargeable batteries, cloth diapers, fewer toxic chemicals and pesticides, energy saving alturnatives, etc. I'd also like to include in this special edition newsletter some prayers and maybe spells to heal the earth, if anyone has any thing to share, I'd be happy to include it in the publication.

So far the Committee is just me, and I'd love to have some aditional help. You don't have to be a member of CEPF to help out with this project. I feel that having a table at the earth day celebration will help get our name out and perhapse atract some new members, and also make people realize that protecting the environment isn't just about science, it's also about spirituality.
